SMS Campaign Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2025
This SMS Campaign Privacy Policy explains how I, Ryan Maynes, collect, use, and protect information related to SMS text messages sent in connection with the contact form on this personal portfolio/resume website (the "Site").
When you submit the contact form and consent to communication, I may collect and process:
- Your mobile phone number.
- Your name and email address, if provided in the form.
- The content of your message or inquiry submitted via the contact form.
- Technical details related to message delivery, such as timestamps and delivery status provided by the SMS service provider.
Financial or payment information is not collected via SMS.
I use SMS-related information solely for:
- Notifying myself when a new contact or job-related inquiry is submitted through the Site.
- Reviewing and responding to your request, including follow-up communication regarding employment or collaboration.
- Troubleshooting, monitoring, or improving the reliability of the contact and messaging workflow.
- Complying with applicable laws, regulations, or carrier requirements.
SMS data is not used for unrelated marketing campaigns or sold to third parties for their independent advertising purposes.
You can opt out of SMS communication at any time by replying STOP to any message. After you opt out, you will no longer receive SMS messages from me unless you opt in again by submitting another contact request or explicitly requesting SMS communication.
SMS-related data may be shared only with:
- Twilio, the SMS gateway provider used to send and receive messages, strictly for the purpose of delivering SMS traffic.
- Service providers or tools that assist with hosting, logging, or securing this Site and its communication features.
- Government authorities, regulators, or law enforcement agencies if required by applicable law or legal process.
Twilio’s own privacy practices are described in its privacy policy, available at https://www.twilio.com/legal/privacy.
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to help protect SMS-related data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures may include:
- Use of HTTPS/TLS for transmitting form data and API calls.
- Restricted access to SMS logs and related systems.
- Avoiding unnecessary storage of sensitive information in SMS content.
SMS logs and related records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry, maintain system reliability, and comply with legal or regulatory obligations. They may be deleted or anonymized after that period.
This Site and SMS program are not directed to children under the age of 16. I do not knowingly collect personal information or engage in SMS communication with children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted a phone number or inquiry, please contact me so I can remove the information.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information related to your SMS interactions. You may also withdraw consent to SMS communication at any time by replying STOP.
